Maisel received the honor from Sacramento State President Robert S. Nelsen at Sacramento State’s commencement ceremony on May 20 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded at spring commencement ceremonies to recognize outstanding service to Sacramento State. The medal is not awarded every year, and it is reserved for individuals who have made the highest, and most positive, impact on Sacramento State.
“In recognition of Garry’s commitment to causes that benefit the people of California, and the Sacramento region in particular, we are honored to present him with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service,” said Mr. Nelsen.
Maisel earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration-Finance from California State University, Sacramento in 1980. At his alma mater, Maisel serves on the University Foundation at Sacramento State’s board of directors, co-chairs the Campaign Leadership Committee and was a member of the 2015 Green & Gold Gala Planning Committee.
